The festival was created by student filmmaker Joe Barratt, in order to provide other young filmmakers with an opportunity to showcase their short films in front of an audience. Screen Stockport also gives a valuable platform to a wide range of independent filmmakers, showcasing a variety of short films in all different styles and genres from all over the world.
