Screen Stockport Film Festival accepts short film submissions from filmmakers of all ages, backgrounds and experiences.

We pride ourselves on being one of the most accessible film festivals in the whole of the UK, giving independent filmmakers the chance to have their unique stories shown on the big screen in front of an audience.

Categories

Short Film

Duration: 1o mins max

Your film can be any style or genre but it must be under 10 minutes long, excluding end credits.

Entrants to this category must have made their short film within the UK.

Very Short Film

Duration: 4 mins max

Your film can be any style or genre but it must be under 4 minutes long, excluding end credits.

Entrants to this category must have made their short film within the UK.

North West Short Film

Duration: 10 mins max

Your film can be any style or genre but it must be under 10 minutes long, excluding end credits.

Entrants to this category must have made their short film within the North West of England.

University Student Short Film

Duration: 10 mins max

Your film can be any style or genre but it must be under 10 minutes long, excluding end credits.

Entrants to this category must have made whilst studying at University within the UK.

School & College Student Short Film

Duration: 5 mins max

Your film can be any style or genre but it must be under 5 minutes long, excluding end credits.

Entrants to this category must have made their short film whilst studying at School or College within the UK.

Post Graduate Student Short Film

Duration: 10 mins max

Your film can be any style or genre but it must be under 10 minutes long, excluding end credits.

Entrants to this category must have made their short film whilst studying a Post Graduate Film Degree within the UK.

International Short Film

Duration: 10 mins max

Your film can be any style or genre but it must be under 10 minutes long, excluding end credits.

Entrants to this category must have made their short film outside of the UK.

Payment Information

Entries to the Schools & Colleges, University & Post-Graduate categories are free, all other categories cost a submission fee. Information about our submission fees is available to view on our FilmFreeway page: www.filmfreeway.com/festival/screenstockport

Eligibility

The festival is open to short film of all styles and genres. Submissions of films is open to all ages. All submitted films must have obtained necessary permissions for the inclusion of copyrighted music and/or images. All films must adhere to the guidelines set out for each category, including maximum duration.

Return and Acknowledgement

All entries should be submitted on DVD as either a disc or as a Quicktime file. You should send the highest resolution version of your film possible. If you are selected and want Screen Stockport to show a higher resolution version of your film than the one originally sent, it is up to you to send that new version. Entries cannot be returned.

Selection and Notification

Successful entrants will be notified of their inclusion in the festival before the festival begins. Entrants who have not been contacted by this date have, unfortunately, been unsuccessful.

Publicity

To help promote the festival, we reserve the right for the reproduction of stills from submitted films for festival publications, flyers and programme, online and print press and the Screen Stockport website.We also reserve the right to broadcast clips of all films submitted to Screen Stockport, on the Screen Stockport website, Screen Stockport Vimeo channel and in the Screen Stockport festival trailer.
